SUNDAY AFTERNOON BUSHCRAFT: BOW DRILL FIRE

APR. 24, 2022

CONNECT WITH YOUR ANCESTORS >>>

Friction fire is a skill older than time. It’s part of who we are as a species, and no matter what your heritage is, your ancient ancestors relied on it to survive. Even now, it’s got a mystique like few other outdoor skills, and is a sure way to prove your chops as a woodsman. Only catch is… it’s hard. Really hard. Let us give you a hand, and you’ll be busting out that first ember in no time.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this half-day course:

  • Wood selection for your bow, spindle, and hearth board
  • The ultimate technique for doing your burn-in right the first time
  • How to stay steady and not wear yourself out
  • Common pitfalls and mistakes that keep you from getting a coal
  • The best tinders to ensure your success

Your first bow drill fire is a major “bucket list” item and a huge confidence builder. And although its usefulness as true survival skill is debatable, it gives you an intimacy with fire that nothing else can.

No prior experience is required for this class, although a working knowledge of firecraft will increase your chances of success. We do recommend that you review our FAQs page to ensure the best experience possible.
