SUNDAY AFTERNOON BUSHCRAFT: BACKPACKING MEALS

APRIL 24, 2022

EATIN' GOOD IN THE BACKWOODS >>>

Dehydrated backpacking meals have come a long way. Gone are the days when you had to put in a day’s work on the trail just to have the appetite to choke down your dinner. But they’re still no match for a home-cooked meal. Also, if you haven’t noticed, they’re damned expensive, and getting more so all the time. And what if you have special dietary needs? Well, you’re up a creek. The solution? Make your own. The good news is, it’s a lot easier, healthier, more cost-effective, and tastier than you’d ever imagine. Let us show you how.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this half-day course:

  • Meal planning, and how to calculate your calorie needs
  • How to dehydrate grains, meats, vegetables, and more
  • Mixing and matching ingredients to suit your tastes
  • The best seasonings and blends to make ordinary ingredients delicious
  • Pros and cons of different types of dehydrators
  • Easy ways to save money buying ingredients
  • How to store your meals to last
  • Cooking your meals on the trail, or at home – yes, we’ll be eating in this class!

Good food goes a long way towards a great experience in the wild. Even the coldest, rainiest, nastiest day can be improved by a good hot meal. There’s no need to rely on something store-bought – make your own, and hit the trail.
