DON'T BE THIRSTY >>>
Water is essential to life. Therefore, make it a priority. Living in a modern, western country, we take easy, clean water for granted. But spend much time in austere environments like the far backwoods, post-disaster environments with disabled infrastructure, or developing countries, and you’ll learn fast that in most of the world, running water that’s safe to drink is a luxury – if you can get it at all. Dehydration and waterborne illness are very real dangers that can show up anywhere. While it may not be the flashiest skill, the ability to locate, collect, and purify water in any environment is a core aspect of your survival toolkit that will keep you and your people alive and healthy whether you’re adventuring in the wilderness, dealing with the aftermath of a natural disaster, or exploring a far-flung corner of the world.Â
Here’s what you’ll learn in this 1-day class:
- How to locate water in a variety of environments, including woodlands, mountains, and arid areas
- How to get water from plants (vines and transpiration bags)
- How to get water from the earth (solar still)
- How to get water from the sky (tarp collector)
- How to filter and purify water with no modern filtration equipment
- How to make improvised containers for boiling and carrying water in the wild
- A discussion and comparison of the best water filters and chemical purification methods on the market, and a hands-on opportunity to use them
- Which filters and purification methods are gimmicks to be avoided
And here’s what else you’ll get:
- A handy quick reference guide to remember key takeaways from the class
- A hot, home-cooked meal to keep you going throughout the day
- Unlimited instructor support via email after the class is over
Dehydration and waterborne illness are miserable at best and lethal at worst. Water procurement and purification is an underrated skill that often gets overlooked – that is, until you start to get thirsty.Â
