WILDERNESS FIRST AID

APRIL 6-7, 2024

COME THROUGH WHEN IT COUNTS >>>

Adventuring in the wild – hiking, hunting, paddling, mountain biking, overlanding – all the things we love to do – are all inherently risky. And we wouldn’t want it any other way. If we wanted safety, we’d stay parked in front of the TV back home. But that’s no way to live. So, here’s what to do instead: Mitigate the risk. A bad turn in the weather, a slip and fall, a miss with an axe or knife can escalate a trip into a deadly situation without the right training. The solution? GET THE TRAINING.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this course:

  • Basic anatomy & physiology
  • How to read vital signs and perform a patient assessment
  • Recognizing and treating shock
  • Dealing with muscle & bone injuries
  • Treating head & spinal injuries
  • How to treat hypothermia and heat casualties – the two biggest killers in the wild
  • Emergency carries & improvised litters
  • How to build the ideal backcountry first aid kit
  • And much more

And here’s what else you’ll get with the course:

  •  Hot, home-cooked meals to keep you going throughout the course
  • A nationally recognized first aid certification
No prior experience is required for this class, but we recommend bringing a daypack with some basic necessities (see our FAQs for what we suggest) and comfortable shoes for hiking. As outdoor professionals, we can speak with authority that accidents and injuries really do happen in the wild. If you haven’t experienced it yet, you will. Own the skills to deal with them… so you can come through when it counts.

NOTE: This class does *NOT* include CPR/AED for Wilderness Applications. You can register for that class here.

Cost: $275
Date & Time: April 6-7, 2024. 8am-10pm Saturday and 8am-1pm Sunday.
