KEEP YOUR SKILLS SHARP >>>
Any tool gets rusty without maintenance. Blades dull, engines lock up, and electronics corrode. Skills are no different. They’re perishable. Your outdoor skills toolbox needs regular maintenance to maintain its usefulness, and wilderness medical skills are among the most perishable of all. Here’s your chance to do something about it. If you’ve attended one of our wilderness medicine (WFA/WFR) classes in conjunction with Offgrid Medic, welcome to the Skills Evolution Workshop – a 1-day refresher course to get some reps in and knock the rust off your medical skills.
Here’s what you can expect:
- A minimum of SIX+ realistic training scenarios, each with its own unique set of challenges. You may participate in as many or as few as you like.
- Day and night training iterations, with all the quality you’ve come to expect from Offgrid Medic – crisis actors, moulage, the whole nine yards.
- Single and multiple patient events with tiered response – beginning with WFA skills and moving to WFR level.
- Networking and learning from other wilderness medical program graduates – not just the people you originally certified with!
- Training in additional roles within the Incident Command System (ICS). If you’re satisfied with your patient care capabilities, you can challenge yourself in another role – Logistics, Ops, Incident Commander, etc
- The opportunity to train with your own medical kit to determine its strengths and shortcomings – or use our supplies, free of charge.
- Expert instruction and guidance to make sure you’re on the right track
Here’s what else you’ll get:
- Hot, home-cooked meals to keep you going throughout the event
- Unlimited instructor support via email going forward
The key to real-world confidence and capability is practice. If you’re not getting in the reps, your skills may not be as sharp as you think. Come join us to hone those skills, and get your edge back.
NOTE: This program is only open to graduates of the Offgrid Medic Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) programs, or a similar program (NOLS, SOLO, REI, etc.) This class is for skill development only and does not count as a WFA or WFR recertification.
If you’ve attended one of our programs in the past, you know what to expect, however, we still recommend reviewing our FAQs page and 1-day packing list to ensure the best experience possible. We also strongly encourage you to bring your medical kit to train with it and allow us to review it.
